At this week’s Business Questions, I asked the Leader of the House, Penny Mordaunt, about combatting money-laundering.
Although we have placed significant sanctions on Russia for their illegal invasion of Ukraine, we can still do more when it comes to money-laundering. Not only will this continue to show the UK’s leadership on this issue, it will help choke Putin’s war machine of the money it needs to continue, and protect UK businesses too.
I requested a debate on this issue in the House of Commons, and was pleased to be informed by the Leader about an ongoing consultation into our money-laundering legislation. I will continue to follow this matter closely.
