It was brilliant to attend the SportsAid parliamentary reception last week and to meet Mid Derbyshire constituent, and champion badminton player, Abigail.
Abigail, from Allestree, recently won gold in the English u17 National Championships. I was pleased to be able to congratulate her on this magnificent achievement in Parliament last week.
SportsAid, in partnership with Entain, have supported over 200 athletes to achieve their potential through a financial sponsorship to help athletes with their training and competition costs. I heard from Abigail about the importance of this funding and how it helps to ensure that all those with talent are able to fulfil their sporting potential.
