This weekend I attended a special ceremony in Derby marking the 90th anniversary of the Holodomor.
The Holodomor was a famine created by the Soviet Union to purposefully starve to death millions of Ukrainians, and Derbyshire’s Ukrainian community came together to mark this tragic event.
Today, we see Putin’s troops invading Ukraine’s sovereign territory and claiming it as their own, and we must continue to support the Ukrainians in any way we can. Mid Derbyshire residents have been incredibly in the welcome they have given to Ukrainian refugees since the invasion last year, and there is huge support for the government’s plan to continue to send aid to Ukraine’s army, including by donating tanks.
