On Sunday, I helped to organise the first walking football match at Belper Town Football Club in support of Silver Sunday.
Thank you to all at Belper Town Football Club for hosting and supporting our event.
It was a brilliant opportunity for all generations to come together to combat loneliness through the power of sport.
The Belper Town under 15s side gamely stepped up to play a game of walking football against a group of more mature members of the local community, creating a wonderful spectacle and a fantastic event.
I hope that more Silver Sunday events, and indeed more walking football, which can help both with fitness and to tackle loneliness amongst older people, will take place in Mid Derbyshire.
