I recently met with Deaf-initely Women, based in Belper, run and governed by deaf, deafblind and hard of hearing women.
Deaf-initely Women was established in 2015 and serves all deaf and hard of hearing women in Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire and beyond.
1 in 7 people in Derbyshire have some form of hearing impairment, and there is no facility like this outside of London.
Deaf-initely Women offer a range of services including abuse awareness for deaf and hard of hearing women, home security advice, and other social and skill-building events to enable deaf women to meet and connect with others.
It was great to meet with Deaf-initely Women and I was inspired by their dedication and determination to provide vital services for their community.
