I was delighted to visit constituency business, the Old Kings Head in Belper.
I met the new licensee, Zoe Shilton, who told me about her plans to work closely with customers to stock the drinks they like, as there is a real community feel. They also have a large function room hosting parties, events and music, which is great for the local economy and for social events in Belper.
Community pubs play a vital role in the local area, supporting those in need. Across the country during the Covid pandemic, community pubs provided meals for the NHS, raised money for charities, shopped for the vulnerable and donated care packages to residents.
I thoroughly enjoyed this informative visit, and am always happy to visit local businesses who would like to discuss the challenges and opportunities they are currently facing.
