I was utterly shocked by the images from the flooding in Milford caused by the burst water main.
I would like to pay tribute to the speedy work of Severn Trent and the emergency services in helping those affected.
I was in the House of Commons at the time, but I was impressed at how quickly the situation was brought under control and how fast a respite centre was set up in Duffield for those affected.
I visited in the aftermath of the flood. It was sad to see the extensive damage caused but it was good to see the local community getting on with things I know that the owner of the Holly Bush was grateful for the help in putting up temporary fencing, made up of plastic sheets, to stop the water flowing into the pub.
Obviously, it will take a while to repair homes and streets such as Dark Lane but Amber Valley Borough Council has taken swift action in cleaning up.
In times such as this, a big community effort is so important. I am delighted to see that the people of Milford and surrounding area have come together and demonstrated such a positive attitude. If you require further assistance that I can help with please do not hesitate to contact my office.
