It was last week announced that Derby was on the longlist for the 2025 UK City of Culture.
I am thrilled that our city has been recognised as having a credible bid.
I will do all in my power to make sure our bid is successful.
Last month, on the eve of the opening of the Museum of Making, I spoke in support of Derby's bid in the House of Commons.
During questions to the Leader of the House, Jacob Rees-Mogg, I said:
"Derbyshire's industrial heritage as the home of the world's first factory is well-known. Derby is also home to the arts and culture with a 52-week festival in 2023-23 providing an ideal opportunity to promote the City of Culture programme"
I am passionate about Derby and there are so many wonderful things happening here. My mission, along with that of the City Council, is for it to be UK City of Culture.
