On Friday 2nd October, I went to visit The White Hart Pub in Stanley. It has been given a huge make-over, costing £290,000. The new licensees are daughter and father team, Georgina and John Eley. The refurbishment had to be delayed as a result of the lockdown but since re-opening in August, the White Hart has created 10 new jobs.
I toured the pub with Georgina and John and learned about the Covid secure measures the pub has put in place. Georgina and John have brought in a host of new measures to meet health and safety guidelines and ensure customer safety. The White Hart has also added a new conservatory, doubled the size of the garden terrace and now offers food, something that it did not previously do.
