I was recently invited to visit the Belper site of international packaging manufacturer DS Smith.
I was pleased to meet with the local senior management team to discuss their plans for the future, including a strong focus on sustainability and promoting biodiversity.
DS Smith employ a large number of local people in Belper, and I know that these ambitions to support our transition to carbon neutral will be welcomed as we move towards net zero both locally and nationally.
Mid Derbyshire is home to a number of key businesses in the logistics sector due to its central positioning and connectivity, and along with the rail industry is one of the fastest growing and strongest investment areas in the Derbyshire economy.
It is therefore no surprise to see DS Smith’s success in Mid Derbyshire, and I was delighted to visit and hear more about the challenges they face and the opportunities in front of them.
