This week, Minister of State for Disabled People, Health and Work Tom Pursglove MP visited Deaf-initely Women in Mid Derbyshire.
In June 2022, I visited Deaf-initely Women to hear about the issues that deaf women have in getting support they need on abuse-related issues.
Following this meeting, I requested a ministerial visit in order to highlight these issues, and Minister Pursglove, a former Home Office Minister and now Minister for Disabled People, visited this week. I accompanied Minister Pursglove and was pleased to take part in a very productive meeting.
I was pleased to show the Minister the fantastic work that Deaf-initely Women are doing in Mid Derbyshire and further afield, and will continue to advocate for better support for deaf people, particularly women at risk of abuse, in Parliament.
