On the darkest day of the year, I’m supporting the ‘Hour for Ukraine’ initiative.
At 8pm, I’ll be turning off my lights in solidarity with Ukrainians, currently living in darkness all the time after the Russian invasion has taken out heat, light and electricity for millions – in minus 20 degree weather.
This is a glimpse of how millions of Ukrainians are spending Christmas this year, and we must stand in solidarity with them at this difficult time.
Countries around the world, including Canada, New Zealand, France, Poland, Czech Republic, the Netherlands, and Italy, are joining in the show of support for Ukraine at 20:00 on the shortest day of the year, 21 December.
Thank you once again to all those in Mid Derbyshire who have been so welcoming to Ukrainian refugees over the course of 2022. As we enter 2023, I hope you will join me in continuing to raise Ukraine’s plight and supporting Ukrainians however we can.
