Pauline Latham OBE MP has welcomed the news that unemployment in Mid-Derbyshire has fallen once again.
Statistics released by the non-political National Statistics Office show the number of unemployed in Mid-Derbyshire is now just 315 putting the constituency well into the bottom ten percent of the country for unemployment.
The figure is 115 less than last year meaning the number of unemployed now represents just 0.8% of the constituency. The number of unemployed young people is also down to just 1%.
Across the country employment rose by 140,000 this quarter, with the employment rate reaching the highest on record at 73.6%. The number of unemployed is now down to nearly 200,000 fewer than last year.
Pauline Latham OBE MP said: “No matter how you look at it, this is good news. I am very happy for everyone who has found the security of a job in the last month and am pleased with the national picture as well. Mid-Derbyshire has one of the lowest unemployment rates in the country and it is great to see businesses big and small are taking people on”.
