It was a pleasure to visit the Rolls-Royce Nuclear site at Raynesway on Thursday 4th April. I heard about their huge and exciting expansion plans, including the demolition of a number of buildings to be replaced by new offices, new manufacturing spaces and a new multi-storey car park. RR Nuclear currently employ 4,500 people, which will rise to around 6,000 over the next few years – including new apprenticeships.
My visit followed the recent announcement by the Australian Government committing to invest in the site – which will build reactors for their new nuclear submarines. The UK is a global leader in nuclear and its annual revenue will be over £1 billion in 2025. I am proud that Derby remains at the very heart of this vital and growing industry.
