On Friday 12th October Pauline Latham hosted a ‘Mental Health Awareness Day’ at the University of Derby.
This event was free to attend and provided information on accessing support for mental health issues. The event was kindly being sponsored by the University of Derby and Calm People.
Approximately 1 in 4 people in the UK will experience a mental health problem each year. In England, 1 in 6 people report experiencing a common mental health problem (such as anxiety and depression) in any given week. The chances are we all know someone who is affected by mental health issues, whether that be friends, family members or neighbours.
At this event Pauline engaged with people in the local community and let them know that there is help available for those who are suffering, whether that be through formal health care or charities.
There was a number of excellent speakers attending this event including Amanda Solloway from Head High.
The event was a great success and it was good to see so many different organisations exhibiting.
