On Sunday 28 May Pauline Latham visited the Drum Hill Scout Campsite’s Spring Bank Camp in Little Eaton.
She learnt about some of the different activities taking place – ranging from traditional scouting skills such as fire lighting with flints to driving go-karts – and met some of the 1300 campers who attended including cubs, scouts, explorers, brownies and guides alongside 200 volunteer staff.
That Sunday also proved to be the day of the disco, so the children involved were, quite understandably, more excited about that then they were a visit from an MP.
Commenting on the visit, Pauline said:
“It was great to visit the Spring Bank Camp and see the children having such a fantastic time, and really enjoying themselves. Although I unfortunately did not get a chance to race any of them in go-karts, it was clear just how much the kids were loving their time and the events they took part in”.
“I would like to thank the Drum Hill Scout Campsite for inviting me, and also congratulate all of the amazing 200 volunteer staff who give up their time to make the event so special for the children”.
