Pauline Latham OBE MP has announced two public debates on the EU referendum to take place in June. The debates are scheduled for Friday June 10th and Thursday June 16th.
They will feature guest speakers in both debates presenting the argument for leaving the European Union (Brexit) and remaining in. On Friday June 10th the guest speaker to speak in favour of exiting the EU is former East Midlands MEP, Chris Heaton-Harris, who is now the Member of Parliament for Daventry. He will be joined by a pro-European speaker who is yet to be confirmed but anticipation is high for the debate on the referendum which takes place on Thursday 23rd June, 2016.
In the second debate, scheduled for Thursday 16th June, one week before the referendum, the speakers are Jeremy Lefroy, MP for Stafford, who will be arguing to remain, and Andrew Lewer, MEP for the East Midlands who will be taking the side of leaving the EU.
Mid Derbyshire’s MP Pauline Latham will introduce and chair the meetings and members of the public are encouraged to attend and hear both sides of the debate and ask questions to the panel.
Pauline Latham OBE MP said: “I am happy to be hosting these debates which I hope will inform the public on the different opinions that there are on the EU referendum. They are intended to be civil exchanges where every question and voice can be heard. If you are undecided or just want to know more about the referendum I encourage everyone to attend. They promise to be very worthwhile events before one of the biggest decisions this country has to make”. If you would like to attend either debate please email [email protected] or telephone 01332 676679.
