Pauline Latham OBE MP has paid a visit to Ashbrook Junior School as part of their Democracy Week.
Mrs Latham spoke to year 3-6 students in their Assembly on how voting works in the UK, how a Member of Parliament is elected and her role as an MP in Wesminster and in Mid-Derbyshire. The well informed students had questions about votes for under 18 year olds, the differences between the UK's political parties and on the EU Referendum which takes place on Thursday 23rd June this year.
After the Assembly Pauline Latham met with the School Parliament to talk about what they do in the school and compare notes on her responsibilities in Parliament in Westminster.
Speaking after the visit Pauline Latham OBE MP said: "It was a pleasure to speak to students at Ashbrook Junior School. I was very impressed with the level of knowledge and engagement they displayed. It looks like the future of politics is in good hands with these students".
