Pauline Latham OBE MP was put through her paces during a visit to Year 5 and 6 students at Belper’s Pottery Primary School.
Mid-Derbyshire’s MP spoke about her role as an MP working in the Houses of Parliament in London and back home in Mid-Derbyshire and the different responsibilities she has, to her constituents and formally in Parliament.
After speaking to students Mrs Latham opened it up to the floor where there was a wide range of enthusiastic questions. Topics included, who Mrs Latham thought should be the next Conservative Leader and the effect of the EU Referendum on children. The well informed pupils also asked Mrs Latham whether she thought David Cameron should have resigned and about her work on the International Development Committee.
Speaking after the visit Pauline Latham OBE MP said: “This was a wonderful visit to Pottery Primary School. The level of knowledge of current affairs demonstrated by the students was outstanding and a real credit to them and their teachers. I hope they keep up their interest as they continue to secondary school”.
